Game Recap
🏆 Player of the Game: Manny Machado — his power stroke helped fuel a two-homer night for San Diego's offense, which produced all three runs on just five hits.
The Brewers grabbed the early edge with a two-run second inning, and for six innings that slim lead held up as both staffs traded zeros and piled up strikeouts. But the Padres, who scratched across a run in the second, finally broke through in the seventh, pushing two runs across to turn a one-run deficit into a one-run lead.
Milwaukee had chances late, drawing three walks on the night, but San Diego's bullpen slammed the door over the final two frames to preserve the 3-2 win. It was the Padres' third straight victory, keeping them within striking distance in the wild-card picture, while the Brewers saw their winning streak snapped despite still owning the best record in the field.
