Game Recap

🏆 Player of the Game: Byron Buxton — He was part of a 14-hit Twins attack that broke the game open with a five-run seventh inning.

For six innings this was a tight, low-scoring afternoon, with Minnesota nursing a slim lead built on single runs in the third and fourth and Baltimore matching one of them. Then the seventh arrived and the Twins broke it open, sending a five-run inning across the plate to turn a one-run game into a rout. Minnesota tacked on two more in the eighth, and by the time the Orioles finally found some offense — two runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth — the deficit was too large to matter. The Twins finished with 14 hits and pulled within 3.5 games of the division lead, while Baltimore's four-run comeback attempt only served to make the final score respectable.
