🏆 Player of the Game: José Berríos — he kept Boston to one earned run and worked around five walks without letting the game get away.

For eight innings this was a game about missed chances, and Boston had most of them. The Red Sox drew five walks and stranded nearly all of them, managing just six hits and a lone run in the seventh, while Toronto scratched out single runs in the fifth and sixth — one of them on the game's only home run — and made them stand up.

Toronto's staff was the difference, holding the Red Sox to one earned run across the afternoon and striking out seven, then closing the door in the ninth with the tying run never getting past the batter's box. Boston's third straight loss was less about being beaten than about failing to cash in, a night when five free passes turned into almost nothing.
