Game Recap

🏆 Player of the Game: Yandy Díaz — He anchored a 14-hit Rays attack that broke the game open with runs in three straight innings.

The Rays chipped away steadily and pulled away late, beating the Mariners 4-1 behind a 14-hit attack and nine strikeouts from their pitching staff.

Seattle struck first, pushing across a run in the top of the first for its only offense of the afternoon. From there, Rays pitching slammed the door, allowing just six hits and two walks the rest of the way while piling up strikeouts and keeping the Mariners off the board for the final eight innings.

Tampa Bay's offense needed time to solve Seattle's starter but did the damage without a single home run. The Rays tied the game in the fourth, took the lead in the fifth, and added a two-run cushion in the sixth. All 14 hits were of the station-to-station variety, with the Rays collecting four RBIs and drawing two walks.

Seattle's night was defined by missed opportunities and a quiet bat rack, finishing with a .176 team average and just one run to show for six hits. Two Tampa Bay errors gave the Mariners extra chances, but they could not convert.

The Rays' staff finished with a 1.00 ERA on the day, allowing one earned run over nine innings in a tidy, efficient win.
