The St. Louis Cardinals piled up 14 hits and pulled away late for a 7-4 win over the Colorado Rockies, breaking a one-run game open with a three-run eighth inning.

St. Louis set the tone early, scoring in the first and adding two more in the third to build a 3-1 cushion. The Rockies, who matched the Cardinals with a run in the opening frame, went quiet for the next four innings before a two-run sixth pulled them within a run at 4-3.
