Game Recap
🏆 Player of the Game: Mookie Betts — He was a central figure in the Dodgers' patient, hit-by-hit attack that produced 10 knocks and six runs without a home run.
The Dodgers spent the middle innings chipping away, and it paid off in the sixth, when a three-run burst flipped a tight game and put Los Angeles ahead for good. Kansas City had matched them punch for punch to that point, riding a pair of home runs to build its early lead, but the Royals' bullpen couldn't keep the Dodgers' contact hitters off the bases — Los Angeles finished with 10 hits without needing a single homer. An insurance run in the seventh proved essential, because Kansas City answered right back with two in the bottom half to pull within one. The Royals put up nothing over the final two frames, and the Dodgers held on 6-5.
