Game Recap
🏆 Player of the Game: Not Available — the provided box score lists only team totals, so no individual Marlins player can be credited.
The Marlins wasted no time, plating three runs in the top of the first and never trailing the rest of the way in a 12-3 rout of the Angels.
Los Angeles answered with single runs in each of the first two innings to cut into the deficit, but the offense went quiet from there, managing just seven hits while striking out 12 times as a team. The Angels' lone home run and three RBIs were not nearly enough to keep pace.
Miami added a run in the fourth before blowing the game open with a six-run fifth, an outburst that put the result beyond doubt. The Marlins tacked on single runs in the seventh and eighth to complete the scoring, finishing with 14 hits, five walks, two home runs and 10 RBIs while hitting .359 as a club.
Marlins pitching held up its end, limiting the Angels to seven hits and three earned runs for a 3.00 team ERA, with 12 strikeouts against four walks. Angels arms, by contrast, were tagged for 10 earned runs and five walks, an 11.25 ERA on the night. Both teams committed two errors, but only one side had the offense to overcome them.
